Dear San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral (DBH) Staff, Working for San Bernardino County has been the highlight of my career as a social worker. The past six years, as the Behavioral Health Director, have taught me a great deal about partnership, collaboration, and leadership. The past 13 years have been filled with the highest highs and the lowest lows and I am humbled by the perseverance and dedication that I have witnessed in our DBH staff as well as our county family. San Bernardino County has been a shining example of how effective we can all be if we work together on shared goals without worrying about who gets the glory, and for that I will be forever thankful. But all good things must come to an end and as such I will be leaving my position as the Behavioral Health Director for San Bernardino County effective Dec. 16, 2021. I have taken a similar position in Orange County, closer to home that will allow for a more realistic work/family balance, taking my own advice on self-care. This will also allow me to do what I love, which is work for more effective behavioral health access for our most vulnerable population in a system that actively supports wellness over all else. Thank you for the role you have played in wellness for all, Veronica Kelley, DSW c: San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Diana Alexander, Assistant Executive Officer, Department Operations Members, Behavioral Health Commission, San Bernardino County Members, Association of Community Based Organizations
