​Sleep Hygiene
The term ‘sleep hygiene’ refers to a collection of good sleep habits.  Research has shown that these tips
and guidelines support healthy quality sleep. If you are looking to improve your sleep try implementing one
or more of these 5 tips tonight.
  • Sleep Rituals – being in the habit of washing your face, brushing your teeth, checking the locks and turning out the lights, for instance, right before getting into bed will signal your body to power down and prepare for sleep.
  • White noise or other sleep inducing sounds – rain, ocean, crickets oh my! 
  • Try one of these apps to find what sound you like best.

  • Bedrooms are for sleeping – checking e-mails, scrolling social media or watching TV can hinder your efforts to fall asleep.
  • Exercise - too close to bedtime can keep you awake.
  • Comfortable environment – studies suggest that a bedroom should be like a cave; quiet, cold and dark and that a room temperature between 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit is optimal for a good night’s rest.
